How do I make Gboard my active keyboard after installing it?
After installing, open your device's keyboard settings and enable Gboard, which appears under the package name com.google.android.inputmethod.latin. It registers as an input method rather than an app you launch from a home screen. Once switched on there, it becomes available in every app that has a text field; until then, your previous keyboard stays in use.
Will this build run on my phone?
The build requires Android 8.0 or newer, so any device on that version or above qualifies, while older systems will be rejected by the installer. The release name additionally includes an arm64-v8a marker, showing it is compiled for 64-bit arm processors, the common configuration in recent handsets. Check both your system version and your processor architecture before you install.
How much storage should I free up first?
The file is 76.0 MB, so set aside at least that much space for the transfer itself, plus a margin for the installation to write its data. Actual occupancy after the first run can differ slightly from the download figure. If your device is close to capacity, clearing a small amount of space prevents a failed or interrupted install.
What version and release date does this listing cover?
This listing names a specific latest version with a release-channel, arm64-v8a designation, published on 2026-09-30. If a build is already present on your device, this is the one you would be updating to. The arm64-v8a portion of the name tells you the package targets 64-bit arm hardware rather than older 32-bit processors.
Is a content rating supplied for this app?
The content rating for this app is unknown, so no age classification is provided with these facts. Anyone assessing whether the app suits a particular user will need to decide that independently, since nothing on this listing offers a rating to consult. All other information on this page comes directly from the verified technical details.
