About Wear OS by Google
Wear OS by Google is the companion package from Google LLC that connects a phone with a wrist-worn device. It sits in the communication category, weighs only 8.1 MB, and is identified on devices as com.google.android.wearable.app. A Companion Package, Not a Media App Rather than being a content or entertainment product, this build acts as the bridge between a handset and a wearable. Its presence on a phone is what lets the two devices recognise each other, which is why it is filed under communication instead of tools, media or games. Users who delete it often find that the pairing link no longer behaves as expected. Which Phones Can Run It The build requires Android 11.0 or newer. Handsets running that version or any later release qualify, while older operating systems will not install the package. Because the requirement sits fairly high in Android's history, most recent phones handle it without adjustment, and newer devices are the natural fit for it. A Small Download At 8.1 MB Storage is rarely a concern here: the whole package is 8.1 MB, so it fits comfortably alongside the apps you already keep. Installation is quick even on a modest connection, and the footprint on the internal drive stays small once the app is in place. Version And Release Details The current listing is version 1.16.113.683093227, released 2026-09-21.
